The Everlasting Man
The Everlasting Man has seen it all. Long ago he created a siphon to another world which allowed him to draw all the life energy from that world. However, he was unable to close the siphon. The more power he pulled through at once, the wider the channel became - and it never shrunk. Thus, he constantly channels the maximum amount of power he has drawn. This has caused him to live for thousands of years and despite numerous attempts at death, he still lives on due to the siphon’s energy regenerating him.
History
Long ago he created a siphon to another world which allowed him to draw all the life energy from that world. However, he was unable to close the siphon. The more power he pulled through at once, the wider the channel became - and it never shrunk. Thus, he constantly channels the maximum amount of power he has drawn. This has caused him to live for thousands of years and despite numerous attempts at death, he still lives on due to the siphon’s energy regenerating him. He attempted to create a second siphon, attaching it temporarily to the land, in the hope that he could redirect his own siphon to the other, connecting them together and creating a loop back to the other world. However, this plan backfired when he found himself unable to detach either siphon once attached, and subsequently there is now a second siphon bleeding another world’s life energy into the world. Fortunately, the second siphon is not too large... yet.
In the region where the second siphon is connected, the land has been infused with more life, clothed in dense vegetation. Evolution has an increased rate and over time only the strongest survived. Creatures adapted and learned how to harness the energy from the siphon. Large, mythical creatures came into being, but they are restricted to the region due to their need to feed of the energy from the siphon. As more of the creatures feed off the energy of the siphon, the wider the channel grows. Perhaps a quelling of creatures there is necessary to keep the siphon’s breadth under control?
The Everlasting Man has been a tyrant, ruling the entire world, to a hero, loved by a nation, a poet, a hermit... you name it, he’s tried it. He’s now a tired, old man who is very jaded and generally bored with the world and life. Life, the one thing he has in endless supply.
