Aeghvera
Aeghvera (pronounced ay-zhveer-ah), is an island north east of Zyraia. The island is mostly uninhabited, although abundant with life. The island is covered in lush vegetation and a variety of exotic life roam the land, drawn to an excess of magic leaking into the world.
History
Aeghvera was chosen by The Everlasting Man for its remoteness and isolation. The island, far off the northeast coast of Zyraia was an ideal location for his experimentation. In an attempt to detach a magical siphon from himself, the Everlasting Man's plan backfired and he had no other choice but to attach a second siphon to the land. He has been unable to remove it.
Over time, Aeghvera has steadily been infused with more life, now clothed in dense vegetation. The rate of evolution increased to an absurd point and only the strongest survived. Creatures adapted and learned how to harness the energy from the siphon. Large, mythical creatures came into being, although they are restricted to the staying near the island due to their need to feed on the energy from the siphon. However, as more of the creatures feed off the energy of the siphon, the wider the channel grows.
The Everlasting Man has paid regular visits to the island, attempting to quell the growing population and prevent the siphon drawing more energy.
Rumours began to form around the island, as intrepid explorers attempted to map the world and were never to return. Any sailor worth his salt has heard of Aeghvera and knows to steer well clear of the island.
